time

   I read about pictures, video and such taken by the Mars lander,  they refer to the time as solar time.  Now what time is it on Mars, do we go by Eastern, Pacific or what.  Seeing as there are so many time zones on the panet earth don't we need to figure out what Mars time is?  Mars does not have a 24 hour day, so the term "solar time" means what?
