what ever happened to the songs that meant something? Stood for something, or included some artistic form?  You here the stuff today, ... it just doesn't get it anymore.  Old Blues now there is some music, has a good beat,  while it can be about anything.  Usually a love gone bad tune, but sometimes party down the street, getting that lovin feelin... etc.  You can got standard blues, could go jugs and washboard bluegrass, country is on a blues beat, or the Brit Inv stuff, electric and psychedelic.  Just so many formats that appeal to all sorts of tastes. Yet still the pop push seems to be the no talent use of electronics, ethnic slang lyrics and overall curse word corrupted stories and beating cops kids and lovers.  Has the world become so numb to the meaning of music that it becomes the loudest curse word or slang racial epithet ?

Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatle song,
'Love me do,' I think it was. From there it didn't take him long.
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night,
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit,

And everything's all right, don't you know?

Johnny told his mama, hey, 'Mama, I'm goin' away. I'm gonna hit the big
time, gonna be a big star someday', Yeah.
Mama came to the door with a teardrop in her eye.
Johnny said, 'Don't cry, mama, smile and wave good-bye'.

Don't you know, yeah yeah, Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, don't you know. Don't you know that you are
a shooting star, And all the world will love you just as long,
As long as you are.

Although not usaually named as one of the great blues bands, at least this song is tellin a little story, inspired  by the deaths of Hendrix and Joplin

I find myself time and again back with the lyrics of Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen--- Pink Floyd, Bob Seger and the list goes on and on and on.

I've fallen off the curve of most modern music.
