6 or 3 you be the judge

Why the difference? I do realize a different shape will give a different tone but so does the number of and character of the pickups. I've played Fender acoustic guitars, one with the all 6 on one side, and a 3&3 really no difference in sound to me... but then I am just a hack guitarist... but what happens when Gibson goes Fender? or at least that's how I see it...

Telecaster

       I took some classes in college about marketing. Though I never went real far in college I learned some stuff. This being said: 

     In light of the fact that Fender has a Stratocaster, Eric Clapton edition, doesn't it make sense to market an edition of the Telecaster as Jimmy Page or Keith Richards? George Harrison was also known to prefer this guitar. For that matter, "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen also preferred this guitar.
