Electronics

Has the electronic "message" replaced human contact? And what is with the text messaging? Isn't this supposed to be a phone? Now I did have an experience in which "texting" was a logical and effective tool; more about that later. As I sit here logged into my blogging site with my texting device, I am trying to change the world just a little bit at a time. I  find texting to be a great tool, a "personal memo" if you will. Not a real useful way to "get to know" someone. Beyond the lol's and smileys the message is devoid of emotion and inflection not to mention gesturing and body language. Do phone calls even exist any more? "A phone call" that's what my mom always said, "if you are going to be late". Made sense, then she knew I hadn't been abducted, wasn't in the hospital or in jail and she could speak with me. My mother had this skill of knowing if I was lying, even on the telephone. In steps the "text message". You just type it and send it. One of the better features of the text message is the location stamp. "I'm over at Fred's working on his car" with a location stamp saying  "sent from Joe's Bar and Grille" is sure to go over well with your wive.

Think about it...

The opinions expressed in this article do not reflect the opinions of Pirate Named Neo® or its staff.
But really give it a thought, instead of paying you are now making money.  Actually is a "no brainer."  75 or so years chasing, arresting some, locking up others and still, if my desire is strong enough I can find some. Did we not learn in the 30's if you make something illegal and people still want that item; it can be found. No taxes involved; being illegal your average Joe does not set up shop. Someone is going to make a profit. This is where the the cartels come in. Are you familiar with the name Al Capone? Well, lets dig our heels in and fight this so called drug war. The expenses cover the entire gamut. Control, investigators, arrests, court, and lock up just to name a few. All because this plant has "mind altering" effects. Should we throw catnip into the mix of "schedule A" drugs? Let's say we look at this in a different light. Drugs are a community/social problem, not a legal problem. Typically a "crime" is something the hurts and or costs money to other people. For one, drugs don't seem to fit this profile. The "need" for a drug may cause crime but that is really another issue. However, marijuana is not and I will repeat "Not an addictive substance". Too many studies do back this statement. Really, think about it; using taxes to help keep an addict satisfied makes more sense than using tax dollars to fight a losing battle. Getting off track here though. Is Colorado falling apart? As I last heard life is still pretty good there. And you can actually get a Rocky Mountain High without breaking the law.

Sunday, March 30

Well it started out looking good...

Please excuse this particular post; as a science/documentary Blog my personal life rarely appears in here.
Well wow... what a weekend. I get the additional day off as Saturday was not a lawn care sort of day. Cold, raining, windy and all the other things associated with a non conducive day for lawn treatment. So things actually did start as a plus. Found out my favorite local band was to make an appearance at a local venue, like about 2 miles from my place. That is road travel mileage not "as the crow flies." So I make it to the bar to meet up with an old work friend. Not to say the friend was old, but the friendship was. We were watching the band from what I would call the choice house seats... having a great time; beer and other adult beverages great conversation and shenanigans galore.  A beautiful female walks up to me, introduces herself, and hangs close by as the evening progressed. Things were really starting to take steps in the right direction. Yea, I got her number... we will see where it goes from here. Sunday things took a sharp turn south. Started with the plan to get some new sneakers (gym shoes); place up the road called Shoe Carnival is first store I think of. To beat all of the box office bests Kroger is in the same Plaza (shopping center). I did need to pick up a few items there. As I walk through the Carnival all I can say is "I can't believe this" and "you are kidding right?" The lowest price I saw was $39. Who in their right mind would pay $120 for a pair of sneakers? Thinking a new plan, but head over to Kroger since I am right there with coupons in hand. First couldn't find the orzo, even knowing from past experience it might be in the rice aisle (fat rice it is also known as). Next; could not find the garbanzo beans had to settle on chick peas (no problem, they are one in the same). The problem with a different Kroger is they are not Universal in set up, not being one to shop this particular store made matters a bit time consuming. Part 2 of the one stop shopping expedition was go to Wally World; the ever famous Walmart. Choice of closest was tough. Eastgate; yes that traffic nightmare, or the one on Red Bank, oh god how I loath the customer service at this one. Red Bank did get my business, $20 for a pair of sneakers. So... I finally get home about 5:30 (oh forgot to mention another "worst coffee ever" from the UDF). Plan is to roast a chicken for dinner; this will take at least 2 hours. Dinner will be late tonight. Get the bird out of the fridge, and yes, it was still frozen. Adding more time to the venture as I needed to soak the bird in cold water to thaw a bit more. Stuffing the bird can only get 1/2 the stuffing in the cavity as it was still frozen but I am running out of time. Guess is I will "stove top" my home made stuffing. argh! After bird is prepped and in the oven realize I left my cigarettes in the truck... down about 8 flights of stairs to retrieve and go back up the steps I just came down. To end on a positive note, I had a great night out with the girl I met on Friday night. Went to do see another band at the same venue.

Life in the Trenches

Yea, I have been out of commission for a bit, just haven't felt up to writing in some time. I sometimes get a notion to start and 1/2 way into I loose interest. Obviously its not the lack of free time that has kept my words off the 'pages'. So anyhow I do keep getting those little reminders that I do have a blog; the anonymous comments on a post that has lost its memory of the music I pasted in it. So here I am, just like always, bored with everything except work. Have you noticed it warmed up a bit here in Cinci? For those unfamiliar, that would be Cincinnati, Ohio. It does tend to do that around the last week of June, making July and August almost unbearable outside; unless you have a pool at your disposal. As for current events in my shallow life included an Independence Day Celebration party I attended last night. Was all in all a great party, even though I knew no body there. Well the host of the party I "know" through the computer on that great Social site we all know and love. Guess would be you start to lose touch with the world when the best thing you have is an apartment with a/c in the summer time. The party did end with an impressive fire works show. So I did have one more thing on my agenda last night, after the party I went to a club to see another friend in a band called The Phoenix Band. Besides being a great band that plays the music in my top 10, the guitarist is in this band with his daughter. She plays one of the 2 keyboards on stage and sings. Quite a talented young lady.
Day begins, going on 1 pm and just got the bed made, the cooler cleaned and stored from last nights adventures and a few little things from Ghettomart, where Ghettodays is just beginning. Usually I am up with the sun, getting the the day started. Weekends included. Late breakfast we will call it. Like the saying in the real-estate market goes, its all about location, Mt Washington being a federal funded town, housing and living expenses covered by the gov't its not surprising the local grocery store has its busiest days at the beginning of the month.

Bengals 0 Steelers 42 or I'm getting a new team

Yes that is my prediction of the Bengals game today.
I'm disgusted, dismayed and jumping ship.

I know the picture is small, its the only one available on NFL.com (disclaimer). I don't want to get in trouble stealing pictures. That being said, it is of course game day again, only this time I am leaving the home town team until they fix the problem or Mike Brown either sells the team or he hires someone to more effectively do his job. Yes, I am now once again an Atalanta Falcons fan. Long, ago, practically a life time, I lived in Stone Mountain Ga, about 70ish miles from Atlanta. Being a home team sort and I was only 13 when I moved; Falcons were replaced with the Bengals, bad move any way you slice it. Well my dreaming days are over, I still live in Cinci, love this town to death, I can't go on rooting a team of losers led by the NFL's laughing stock. I refuse to be denied my freedom to choose what ever team I want, good luck Bengals, hope you get there with out my fandom.  that is a word right?

I thus resign as a Bengals Fan,
