Lets go to the Zoo

This is a story of long, long ago, in a room with a green carpet, and... oh, get on with it!

When photos can capture a moment forever:

I grew up in a veritable zoo; 1 dog, several cats, fish, several tanks of, 1 bird, and of course my addition 2 gerbils. Their cage was constructed of an old fish tank, the 10 gallon one with the nifty new "habitrail" lid on top. Not quite as elaborate as the photo but, you get the picture...  Combining cats and rodents is a bit of a challenge, therefore my bedroom door was always shut; save the times I was in close proximity with a watchful eye. One day, I approached said door, being in 1/2 open 1/2 closed position, I walked in rushed, afraid my furry 4 legged friends had met their so called maker, Rosana Rosannadana, the cat. To my relief no cats to be found: instead Daisy (the dalmation disaster mutt) was perched in the middle of the floor; arms crossed, innocent looking gaze, as if you say "What?!". Daisy had torn the lid off the tank, it lay there, not so worse for wear, but the 2 gerbils had escaped. In looking I was able to recapture one of the rodents. Baffled by the missing rodent, I turned to Daisy to ask her where the other creature had gone; like she's really going to answer. There I saw, hanging from her mostly closed mouth, a tail! I would give a million dollars to have a picture of this. I reached over, opened the dog's mouth and out popped Rogo, the missing gerbil. Who, immediately scurried under the bed as he hit the ground. I was able to get him back to his cage, before he had dried completely. It was without a doubt one of the most comical events of my youth.

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair ... must try this on their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer". More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Aries

Was strange, I saw him this morning. Aries, came into and out of the room, early early in the morning. I noted he was there as usual. A few hours later Neo was setting by me and Aries was no where to be seen, worried me a bit. The balcony door was open all night and morning. I had a sense that he was no longer in the apartment. This did spook me. Perhaps he just found a great hiding spot and couldn't be found? This did cross my mind and I do wish that was the case, I went to work, did my job, thinking of my missing cat. I was hoping, knowing it would be a slight chance that he would be waiting for me with Neo at the front door, which he always did, and I do stress always. Well no such... Aries is missing, gone, poof... not hide nor hair all day since probably about 3:00 am. The worry is bit more serious now, sun has set, and this cat has never been outside... I adopted him, brought him home, and his 'outdoor' experience was my balcony. Though the balcony seems high, I did have a cat once jump off a 2nd story balcony that for the roll of the hills seemed to be a high as this one, on the 3rd floor. I saw that cat land, and run till he felt safe (was scared by a little angle biting dog). So my guess is while obviously not having acrophobia, jumped off the balcony to go out and enjoy the unknown for a day or so. Well I will just have to sit tight, call his name now and again and hope my buddy that thinks he is a Bengal Tiger will return to his feeding grounds again soon. I'm starting to miss the guy.

My Name

Now having downed about 4 cups of hot chocolate with rum I am feeling pretty darn good about now.
I'm just aggravated in a few ways, but I'm ok, really.
I am still seeing only one monitor, so I don't think I am that far gone.

Many out there see my name, Pirate Named Neo... well the pirate part is not so much the seafaring character so much as I was trained on the pirate side of the computer industry (I have changed my ways...honest) but free is so much better. The Named Neo part is as I am sure you have guessed part of the Matrix series of movies. It does go a little deeper than that though. My last cat Neo, short for Neoptolemus ( Achilles' son) will live as he is now part of my screen name. A ferotious little "cat with an attitude" as one friend put it. Was mean from day one. He is my daughters' little devil now as she agreed to take him when my last land bitcfh, I mean land lord would not let me have a pet. Not even a gold fish. 8-10 months later the land bitch, I mean land lord let her friend move in down stairs from me, with a dog. A loud, aggrivating, barky little dog. Actually more a medium sized dog. It just kills me how land bitch, I mean land lords make their own rules. Have had more than one experience with land bitch (bastards) I mean land lords in my history. Neo (talkin about the cat again) was a cool cat though. Would jump up the wall to attack.... nothing there, but hey, if he see's an attcker, far be it for me to tell him different.
attacking feet was a favorite past time too. Drew blood a few times, but heck I'm his human.
I know this is dragging on, I will close saying good night and peace to all.
