White Death, again

I keep hearing snow snow snow... this is not exactly a good thing. For one I hate the cold, has to be cold to snow. Next is the longer the snow stays around lawn care can not effectively be done. This is already cutting my start time to the late stage. This does mean more Saturday work. I don't like working 6 days a week. Then again, I don't have allot to do on Saturday, so I might as well make some money while doing it. Looks to be an additional inch this morning, and more on the way...

Not to abruptly change the subject... but then again this is my blog, and you go where I go... Why is it that some people don't function well in the early AM? I seem to be fine regardless of the time I go to bed at night. Woke up this morning, no alarm clock buzzing, no radio; just woke up looking at the clock, 4:50 ish AM. I got out of bed, made the bed and the day begins. Well sure that's early; I don't have to be at work till 9:00 AM. I am just thinking, why sleep in when I only have so many days of life?

Got some snow?

Oh how ridiculous can it get. All this talk of global warming, fossil fuels, and man made disaster. Some one give me a coffee break would you? Would "global warming" by definition mean less of this white stuff we have come to know as snow? Think of how each season would progress, is this not the "end of the snow period" it getting a little closer to spring, and with that GLOBAL WARMING looming about....

So I guess I have been running my mouth too much, this and that about getting "snowed in" and the mad rush to the grocery store and all that, but...

HELP!  I HAVE PARKED MY CAR AND CAN'T GET OUT

Some times, especially during the winter I am so thankful I chose my profession, through some evil way now is time to start back up, get up and go to work and become like the rest of this great land and start paying my dues again. Lets all weep for poor Pirate, have to do out in cold again. Thanks to the snow though, I am putting it off till Thursday ... gotta get the fan in the car working again.

its not so bad with out heat, the sun will warm the car a bit, its the windows, no way to blow warm air on them.

Lawn care now? I just put my folding chairs away

Turf care season abound on the horizon. I like my job and look forward to this time every year.  This being said its almost the end of my extended vacation. Only gripe, well as all I have many, but I don't like the winter being my vacation time. Well I always did say, get what you can get. Or at least something like that. Seems like I should have taken up snow skiing or a similar hobby. This shot was taken from the sun deck on Pirates vessel. Sun deck doesn't get alot of use this time of year. So.... looking to the south-west toward Reading Ohio. Funny thing here is Reading is pronounced Red-ing, not like what you do with a book. Had an issue with a visitor from out of town, "Well it should be reed-ing". I just sat back thinking "let it go"....

The one forecast I read off the Nat'l Weather Service said "1 inch additional snow fall" not sure what was already on the ground at that point. looks to be about 5-6 inches.
*Doesn't look like the temperature is going to help the cause much, could be looking at a late start to the season of Lawn Care, I will keep you posted. *According to my weather sources.

hurricane in the mid west

Talk about weather, here in Cincinnati September 14 hurricane force winds (as I heard it refered to on the radio) 66 mph and talk about destruction.  Trees up rooted, branches breaking power lines down, total chaos.  Power went down here at my home at about 2:30 and was not restored for about 20 hrs. Everyplace was closed. Dinner? not tonight, chips and dip and crackers with cheese. I have never before seen or experienced wind like that. Minimal damage to the apartment but I drove to work this morning, on the way saw a car crushed by a 50 ft oak tree, several fences crushed and even some property damage to homes. The entire time this was going on my girlfriend and I were on the balcony of our 3rd floor apartment just watching .... what a sight
